Importance of Collaboration

Helps us problem-solve

Collaboration creates an environment where you can ask for help and seek another perspective. When a group of people pool their knowledge, skills, and expertise, then talk problems out and debate potential solutions, projects that were stalled will begin to move forward once again.

Brings stakeholders closer together

Instead of schools and organizations operating in isolated silos, collaboration creates a common purpose between them and sets up connections which will serve everyone in the future.

People bring different skill sets and backgrounds to the table

When we engage in collaboration, not only do we have an opportunity to learn from each other—our mistakes, successes, failures, workflow, etc.—we also gain an understanding of the other perspectives.

Opens new channels for communication

Finding new ways to communicate and share information is important to the success of any work we do, which is why collaboration should be utilized whenever possible to form bonds between departments and agencies.

Gives our work purpose through a shared goal and accountability

As connections are made between teams and departments, people will naturally trust each other more, which can gradually create stronger partnerships and greater outcomes.

Makes us more efficient and creative

Collaboration helps us divide up a heavy workload, find creative solutions to tough problems, and better understand the bigger picture.
